This route will connect Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk (Museum) in South Mumbai to Oshiwara Bus Depot in the western suburbs, using the newly opened Coastal Road to offer a faster and more comfortable commute.
The initiative is part of BEST’s plan to expand its AC bus fleet, aiming to provide passengers with convenient and modern transport options across the city. Reportedly, officials said the service will operate throughout the week, making daily travel easier for commuters.
The new AC route will cover key stops across South and Western Mumbai
Route A-84 will stop at major points including Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk (Churchgate station), Worli Sea Face, Worli Depot, Babasaheb Worlikar Chowk, Mayor’s Bungalow near Shivaji Park, Mahim, Khar Road (West), Santacruz Depot, Vile Parle, Andheri Station (West), Oshiwara Bridge, and finally Oshiwara Bus Depot.
The route is designed to reduce travel time while linking important commercial and residential hubs, making it suitable for both daily commuters and occasional travellers.
Bus timings and fare details for passengers
The first bus from Oshiwara will depart at 7:15 AM, and the last at 5:20 PM. From the Museum, the first service will leave at 8:50 AM, and the last at 7:15 PM. Buses will run every 40 to 45 minutes, ensuring frequent availability throughout the day. The fare has been set between Rs 12 and Rs 25, making it an affordable AC travel option for city commuters.
BEST encourages passengers to use the new service
“The newly launched Route A-84 is designed to improve commuter comfort and reduce travel time by connecting key areas of South and Western Mumbai via coastal road,” said a BEST official as quoted by the Free Press Journal.
The undertaking highlighted that this new service reflects its commitment to modernising the fleet while prioritising passenger convenience and smooth travel.
With this addition, Mumbai residents will now have a reliable and comfortable way to travel between South Mumbai and the western suburbs, especially along the scenic Coastal Road, enhancing connectivity across the city.
