Women commuting on the Delhi Metro are now enjoying a unique and exciting experience. With the driver’s cabin removed from the front coach, female passengers can now enjoy an unobstructed view of the tracks ahead, creating the thrilling feeling of “driving” the train themselves.

This opportunity is exclusive to women, as the first coach is reserved for female passengers. Many are making the most of it by taking selfies, while some even let their children stand at the front where the driver’s cabin once was, turning an everyday commute into a memorable ride.

Currently, most trains on the Magenta and Pink lines have this facility, and soon, other metro lines in the capital city will have driverless trains too, which will provide more people with a chance to enjoy this unique ride.

When Did Driverless Trains Start In Delhi

Driverless trains were first started on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line in December 2020. This line connects Janakpuri West to the Botanical Garden. After that, the same technology was extended to the Pink Line in November 2021, which runs between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar. With this, Delhi Metro became the only metro system in India to run driverless trains.

Smart Features And Smoother Travel:

The driverless trains in the Delhi Metro are designed to make travel smoother and more comfortable for everyone. These trains can now handle tasks like pre-checks and parking at depots on their own, which has reduced the need for human help.

At first, a train operator used to be present for support, but with better technology and growing confidence, the system is now fully automatic.

The new design of the metro includes extra poles for standing passengers, more room inside the coach and better security with advanced CCTV cameras.

Safety and ease of travel have also improved with features like real-time track monitoring, bright LED lighting and Digital Route Maps on LCD screens. All these changes make the metro journey safer, smarter and more enjoyable for daily commuters.
