Mahindra is preparing the first major update to the XUV700 since its debut in 2021.

A test version of the facelifted SUV has now been spotted for the first time, wrapped in camouflage and undergoing trials in a hilly region.

Tamil Motors 360, a YouTube channel has captured the same.

What’s Changing on the Outside?

While the overall design remains familiar, some clear changes can be seen:

  • New LED Headlamps: The current sleek lights are being replaced by circular LED units.
  • Daytime Running Lights (DRLs): The earlier C-shaped DRLs are gone. Now, the circular headlamps come with LED rings, which are likely to serve as DRLs.
  • Revised Grille: The front grille gets a new design with extra slats.
  • Sharper Air Dam: The lower bumper appears to get a slimmer air intake.
  • Similar Silhouette: Alloy wheels, taillights, and the side profile are likely unchanged.

Two odd-looking auxiliary lights seen in the spy shots are likely just for testing purposes and won’t make it to the final version, as per Financial Express.

Tech and Feature Upgrades on the Cards

Though the XUV700 already leads its segment with features, Mahindra may add more creature comforts to stay ahead:

  • Ventilated front and rear seats
  • Triple screen layout across the dashboard
  • Upgraded Harman sound system with Dolby Atmos
  • Digital key with NFC tech

Engine Options Likely to Stay the Same

Under the bonnet, no major mechanical changes are expected. The facelifted XUV700 will likely continue with the current engine choices:

  • 2.0-litre turbo petrol (mStallion)
  • 2.2-litre diesel (mHawk)

Both will be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The top-end diesel variant will continue to offer all-wheel drive (AWD).

Launch Timeline

While Mahindra hasn’t confirmed an official launch date yet, the testing phase suggests the facelifted XUV700 could arrive in showrooms later this year.
