Passengers travelling to or from the upcoming Noida International Airport will now have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF) ranging from Rs 210 to Rs 980, according to a new tariff announced by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA).

The airport, currently under construction in Greater Noida, is expected to begin commercial operations by October 2025.

How Much Will You Have To Pay?

As per the temporary tariff:

  • Domestic flight passengers will pay Rs 490 UDF
  • International flight passengers will pay Rs 980 UDF

For arriving flights:

  • Domestic arrivals will attract Rs 210 UDF
  • International arrivals will attract Rs 420 UDF

Please note: Taxes will be levied separately on all these charges. This temporary tariff will remain effective until March 31, 2026, or until a regular tariff is finalised and issued by AERA.

Initial Passenger Estimates And Future Expansion

The airport operator estimates that in the initial years, over 94% of traffic will be from domestic flights. For the current financial year:

  • 57 lakh domestic passengers are expected
  • 2.4 lakh international passengers are expected

By March 2030, this number is projected to grow to:

  • 1.7 crore domestic passengers
  • 10 lakh international passengers

Current Capacity And Long-Term Plans

The cost of the airport’s first phase is pegged at Rs 7,209 crore, with an annual capacity to handle 1.2 crore passengers. Future phases will increase this capacity to:

  • 3 crore, then
  • 5 crore, and finally
  • 7 crore passengers per year

Further expansion will begin once 80% of the existing capacity is utilised.

Aiming To Become One Of The World’s Largest Airports

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to develop Noida International Airport into one of the largest airports globally, with multiple terminals and runways. For comparison:

  • Delhi’s IGI Airport, currently India’s busiest, handles 10 crore passengers annually, and served 7.8 crore in 2024.
  • UDF at IGI ranges between Rs 129 and Rs 810.

Noida Airport will be the second international airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) and will cater to air traffic for cities such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Agra, and Mathura, serving as a gateway to numerous pilgrimage and tourist destinations.

Why This Temporary Tariff?

Since Noida Airport is a greenfield project, there is no previous tariff structure. AERA explained that determining a regular tariff involves thorough scrutiny of capital expenditure and consultation with stakeholders, which takes time.

Until then, this temporary tariff prevents any regulatory vacuum.
